Florence Price Fantasie nègre

VENUE NOTE:

The Kanneh-Mason family remains an inexhaustible source of talent. After cellist Sheku and pianist Isata have established themselves as soloists of stature, it is now the turn of their sister Jeneba. Since the Kanneh-Mason siblings joined the TV show Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, they’ve more than proven to be more than hype. Jeneba Kanneh-Mason recently released her debut album Fantasy. This afternoon she will play work by the American composer Florence Price and a stunner of a Beethoven sonata.

The seven Kanneh-Mason siblings, from a British family with roots in Antigua and Sierra Leone, have won several awards and also perform together. Jeneba, in his early twenties, is the fifth in line. She garners widespread admiration and praise with her heartfelt interpretations in diverse repertoire. Florence Price’s virtuoso Fantasie nègre, also heard on Jeneba’s album, is an example of a wealth of ideas and concentrated energy.

Concert in the open air
This terrace concert is in the open air. Right on the water, the sun’s power can be strong and it can be quite windy, be prepared for this. In case of bad weather (rain and/or too strong wind) we will move the performance inside the Entrance Hall, with a view over the IJ.
